What is Molchanovs Wave 2?
The Molchanovs Wave 2 Advanced Freediver Course is a comprehensive three-day program designed for certified freedivers looking to increase depth, improve technique, develop advanced safety skills, and build confidence in a structured learning environment.
Through a combination of theory, pool training, and ocean sessions, students refine their freediving skills while progressing towards deeper dives, improved breath-hold performance, and more advanced rescue competencies.
Wave 2 is the next step for freedivers who have completed a Level 1 certification and are ready to take their training further.
What you'll learn
Static & Dynamic Apnea
Develop advanced breath-hold capabilities and pool skills through structured training. By the end of the course you'll work towards a 2 minute 30 second static breath hold, 50m Dynamic Bi-Fins (DYNB), and 35m Dynamic No-Fins (DNF), while learning advanced training techniques and performance development strategies.
Equalisation & Depth
Refine your equalisation technique and become comfortable diving deeper while maintaining efficiency and control. Skills include advanced Frenzel equalisation, reverse packing, freefall techniques, and improved body position and relaxation at depth.
Performance goals include:
• 24–30m Constant Weight Bi-Fins (CWTB)
• 24–30m Free Immersion (FIM)
• 15m Constant Weight No-Fins (CNF)
Safety & Rescue
Advanced freedivers become stronger dive buddies. Students learn comprehensive buddy procedures, advanced rescue protocols, rescue of a freediver from 10–15m depth, and self-rescue techniques including a 10m no-mask ascent.
Theory & Physiology
Gain a deeper understanding of the science behind freediving. Topics include freediving physics, pressure and depth adaptation, advanced equalisation theory, mental training, relaxation techniques, and mindfulness for performance and safety.
