Go Dive Tasmania – Booking Conditions

By booking any activity with Go Dive Tasmania, you acknowledge and agree to the following terms and conditions. Please read them carefully before making your booking.

1. General Conditions

  • All participants must complete any required participant information forms, medical questionnaires, and liability waivers prior to commencing the activity. Completion is mandatory.
  • You are responsible for ensuring you are medically fit to participate and that you book an activity appropriate to your certification, training and experience level.
  • All courses, briefings, training and activities are conducted in English. For safety reasons, participants must be able to understand and communicate in English.
  • Go Dive Tasmania reserves the right to cancel, reschedule, modify or relocate any activity due to weather, sea conditions, safety concerns, instructor availability, vessel availability, minimum participant numbers, operational requirements, or any other circumstance beyond our reasonable control.

2. Dive Trips & Snorkelling Sessions

Eligibility

  • Minimum participant numbers may apply.
  • Solo bookings are welcome; however, trips will only proceed once minimum numbers have been met.
  • Divers must hold the appropriate certification and experience level for the dive being undertaken.

Customer Cancellations

  • More than 5 days prior to departure: 20% cancellation fee applies.
  • Within 5 days of departure: No refund.
  • No-shows, late arrivals, or failure to meet participation requirements may be treated as a cancellation without refund.

Cancellations by Go Dive Tasmania

  • If we cancel due to weather, safety concerns, insufficient numbers, vessel issues, or operational requirements, you may:
    • Transfer to another available date within 12 months; or
    • Receive a full refund.
  • Go Dive Tasmania retains sole discretion in determining whether conditions are suitable to proceed.

Partial Trips

  • If a trip is interrupted after departure due to weather, safety concerns, participant conduct, equipment issues, illness, injury, or other circumstances, any refund or credit will be at Go Dive Tasmania's discretion based on the portion of the activity completed.

Equipment, Guides & Dive Planning

  • Unless otherwise stated, equipment rental is not included in dive trip pricing.
  • Divers are responsible for ensuring they have all equipment required for the planned activity.
  • Guided diving is not included unless specifically booked.
  • Divers are expected to dive with a suitably qualified buddy.
  • Divers who have not logged a dive within the previous 18 months must arrange a private guide before participating.
  • The private guide fee is $185 per day and must be arranged and paid for prior to the activity.
  • Go Dive Tasmania reserves the right to refuse participation where a diver's recent experience level is considered insufficient for the planned activity.

Equipment Collection

  • Divers requiring rental equipment are responsible for arranging collection prior to their trip.
  • Equipment is generally collected from:

  • Equipment collection is typically required on the business day prior to diving.
  • Participants are responsible for checking store opening hours and confirming collection arrangements.

Meeting Locations

  • Unless otherwise advised, the general meeting location for Tasman Peninsula diving activities is:

  • Meeting times vary depending on the activity, weather and vessel schedule.
  • Morning dive trips generally meet at 7:30am.
  • Participants are responsible for checking confirmation emails and ensuring they arrive on time.

Travel Insurance

  • We strongly recommend obtaining suitable travel and/or dive insurance to cover personal cancellations, illness, injury, travel delays and other unforeseen circumstances.

Seafood Collection Dives

  • All seafood collection dives must comply with current Tasmanian recreational fishing regulations.
  • Divers collecting Rock Lobster, Abalone or Scallops must hold the appropriate Tasmanian recreational sea fishing licence.
  • All required catch reporting obligations remain the responsibility of the diver.
  • Divers participating in Rock Lobster dives must bring a mobile phone, have the Tas Fish App installed, and have access to their licence details.
  • Failure to comply with licence or reporting requirements may result in the catch being retained onboard and not released to the diver.
  • The vessel captain and crew retain full authority regarding catch compliance, safety and operational decisions. All decisions are final.

3. Course Booking Conditions

Eligibility

  • Minimum age is 12 years unless otherwise specified.
  • Bubble Maker and Seal Team programs have separate minimum age requirements.
  • Participants are responsible for arranging their own transport between locations, including the dive shop, pool, accommodation and dive sites.
  • Entry fees, permits and National Parks passes are not included unless specifically stated.

Medical & Swim Requirements

  • All participants must complete the applicable diver medical questionnaire.
  • Participants aged 45 years or older must provide a dive medical certificate from a doctor prior to participating, regardless of their answers on the medical questionnaire.
  • If indicated by the medical questionnaire, participants under 45 years of age may also be required to obtain medical clearance prior to participating.
  • Participants must be able to swim 200 metres continuously and float unassisted for 10 minutes.
  • Swim assessments are conducted to ensure participant safety.
  • Failure to successfully complete the swim assessment or float assessment will result in removal from the course without refund.
  • Participants wishing to continue at a later date will be required to pay the applicable $245 rebooking fee.
  • Deliberately misrepresenting swimming ability, water confidence, or comfort in the water places participants, instructors and staff at risk and may result in immediate removal from the course without refund.
  • Go Dive Tasmania instructors and staff have a responsibility to provide a safe training environment for all participants. Decisions regarding participant safety are final.

Deposits, Payments & Refunds

  • A non-refundable deposit of $245 per participant applies to all course bookings.
  • Cancellations more than 30 days before the course commencement date will receive a refund of monies paid less the $245 deposit.
  • Cancellations within 30 days of the course commencement date are not eligible for a refund.
  • If a participant is unable to participate due to a failed dive medical and provides supporting documentation, a refund may be issued less the $245 deposit, provided notification is received more than 14 days prior to the course commencement date.
  • No refunds will be provided for medical reasons within 14 days of the course commencement date.
  • Course bookings may be transferred to another participant for a $245 transfer fee, provided the transfer is requested before the course commencement date and the replacement participant meets all course requirements.
  • The transfer fee covers course materials, PADI eLearning licences, administrative costs, certification processing, and other costs already incurred by Go Dive Tasmania.
  • Go Dive Tasmania reserves the right to refuse a transfer request where certification processing has commenced, the transfer cannot reasonably be accommodated, or course requirements cannot be met by the replacement participant.
  • Refunds will be returned to the original payment method where possible.

Combo Course Bookings

  • Where a participant withdraws from a multi-person package, any refund will be calculated based on the difference between the original package price and the applicable revised package price, less any non-refundable deposits.
  • No refunds are available for cancellations within 14 days of commencement.

Date Changes & Rebookings

  • More than 14 days before commencement: One free date change is permitted.
  • Within 14 days of commencement: One date change is permitted upon payment of a $245 rebooking fee per participant.
  • Once a booking has been changed (whether free or paid), any further changes may require full repayment of the course fee.
  • Participants who do not attend, arrive excessively late, fail to complete the course, voluntarily withdraw, fail the swim assessment, fail the float assessment, or fail to complete the required online learning may rebook once within 12 months by paying a $245 rebooking fee.
  • After a rebooking has been used, any further continuation or rebooking may require payment of the full course fee.
  • Participants arriving more than 30 minutes late may be treated as a no-show at Go Dive Tasmania's discretion.

Extended Experience Courses

  • The PADI Open Water Extended Experience includes additional guided diving beyond the requirements of a standard Open Water Course.
  • If a participant requires a rebooking due to cancellation, non-attendance, or incomplete course completion, the standard $245 rebooking fee applies.
  • Rebooked participants will be transferred to a standard Open Water Course to complete any remaining training requirements.
  • The additional guided diving included in the Extended Experience format is forfeited and is not included as part of the rebooking fee.
  • As a courtesy, participants who originally booked an Extended Experience Course and subsequently rebook may receive 50% off one scheduled Go Dive Tasmania boat dive within 12 months of course completion. This offer is non-transferable, subject to availability, and has no cash value.
  • Participants who originally booked a standard Open Water Course cannot use a rebooking, continuation, transfer, or upgrade request to move into an Extended Experience Course. Any applicable upgrade fee must be paid before the course commencement date.

Online Learning & Course Administration

  • Access to online learning materials will be provided after booking.
  • It is the participant's responsibility to contact Go Dive Tasmania if course materials are not received.
  • Participants should check spam and junk folders before contacting us.
  • Completion of all required online learning prior to practical training is mandatory.
  • Failure to complete the required online learning before the course commencement date will result in removal from the course.
  • Participants may rebook onto a future course by paying the applicable $245 rebooking fee.
  • All required forms and waivers must be completed before the course start date.

4. Gift Vouchers & "Choose Dates Later" Bookings

  • Gift vouchers are valid for 3 years from the date of purchase unless otherwise stated.
  • Original proof of purchase may be required when redeeming a voucher.
  • Gift vouchers are not redeemable for cash.
  • Bookings are subject to normal availability and scheduled course dates.
  • Custom dates are not included unless specifically stated.
  • Any price increases that occur after the date of purchase must be paid at the time of booking or redemption.

5. Participant Conduct & Safety

  • All participants must follow instructions given by Go Dive Tasmania staff, instructors, divemasters and vessel crew.
  • Unsafe behaviour, intoxication, harassment, abuse, refusal to follow instructions, or conduct that places any person at risk may result in immediate removal from the activity without refund.
  • Go Dive Tasmania reserves the right to refuse participation where safety may be compromised.

6. Australian Consumer Law

  • Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under Australian Consumer Law.
  • Nothing in these terms and conditions is intended to exclude, restrict, or modify any rights or remedies you may have under Australian Consumer Law.
